One of my clients just manifested a house. And by ‘manifest’, I don’t mean that she came into coaching wanting a house, put a picture on her vision board, and prayed to it every day until someone magically gifted her a house. It wasn't even on the menu for her to own a house. She didn’t think she could — it would be too much work, she couldn’t afford it, it was too big of a commitment and too complex. Not the kind of thing someone like her would do. As a part of our Wisdom Immersion, we explored her upper limit to greater abundance. We took a walk around Piedmont with its big historic houses and big trees. We came across an open house and she started learning, asking questions, and gave herself permission to start imagining owning a home — and getting clear on what she would want. I simply pointed out that if she wanted to buy a house, she could. And if she did, it would not be as a solution to a problem but as a following of a calling. We began to suspect that a house wanted to happen, and she started following the nudges. That’s what I mean by ‘manifesting’: allowing something that wants to happen to be created. Surrendering old stories and ways of being that are getting in the way. Seeing life differently (transformation), and living life differently. “Being used for a purpose recognized as a mighty one.” She talked to friends in real estate, and began learning about that world — questioning her old stories and assumptions that even kept her from asking. She changed her relationship with abundance, and wealth became even easier for her to create. She let it become real. She let herself declare “I’m actually doing this!” She faced ‘big’ decisions, including where in the world to live. The edge of making long-term plans versus following inspiration in the moment. Letting go of the amazing home she’s been renting, and letting go of the community she’s built. She’s felt inspired, confused, doubtful, focused, proud, vulnerable, surprised, and grateful. And in our closing coaching call, she was closing on the new house, in a new part of the world, and everything feels right even as she’s in the nostalgia of the moment. The thing about this kind of ‘manifesting’ is that it’s not about adding things that the ego wants. Buying a house wasn’t even a major goal for her–it was a side-effect of her growth. Manifesting is allowing yourself to actually want what you want, not from fixing but from following creation, and follow the nudges from the universe. When you’re clear–when you’re operating from higher levels of consciousness–what you want and what life wants are closer together. It often can be scary, confusing, and challenging even as it is exhilarating. Something awesome is trying to happen, and your job is to allow it. For YouWhen you find yourself in moments of peace, what impossible desires sneak into your daydreams? These are doorways. If you step towards these desires, out of the familiar, into being even more yourself, following something greater than yourself, you are bound to create something new. You don’t have to. But if you want to, you can. Michael McDonald :: Transformational Coach :: authenticintegrity.com P.S. Looking for more perspective? Try out The Big Picture inquiry process. |

As a coach I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of Listening. Over the years I keep finding new depths of listening, new directions of listening, and new possibilities and views of reality through shifting and expanding my view of what listening really is and what it can be. So, I found myself surprised once again by hearing something profound in a recent mastermind call with Ankush Jain and several coaches in the AJC school. It’s still working its way into me. If you’ve been to my...
How do we create our lives, in a way that feels authentic, powerful, and in harmony with the world? I have many answers to that question, none of them true, but all of them potential useful so here’s a brief exploration: In the paradigm of Personal Empowerment we discover that we are creators, that we are responsible for our own fate and that instead of bemoaning what has been we can step forward and create what we want to be. “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable...
When a client is struggling with something and they have no idea why, one way I like to play is to zoom out and approach it from two divergent perspectives: One perspective is Action:Are they actually doing the thing ?Are they putting in the necessary time and attention?Do they know what system they currently have in place, which is creating the results they’re getting? Are they getting into the medium and experimenting, to learn from experience not concept? Are they focusing on taking action,...
